Epithalon: The Telomerase-Activating Longevity Peptide

Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide modeled on epithalamin, a pineal-gland extract. It's the most-studied longevity peptide in animal models.

Epithalon (also spelled epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide — Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly — designed to replicate the pineal-gland extract epithalamin. Russian research over four decades has linked it to extended lifespan in mice, lengthened telomeres in human cell culture, and restoration of melatonin rhythm in older adults.

Telomerase Activation

Cell-culture studies show epithalon upregulating telomerase, the enzyme that maintains telomere length on chromosome ends. Telomere shortening is one of the recognized hallmarks of aging. Whether this translates to meaningful human lifespan extension is unproven.

Circadian Repair

Older adults show flattened melatonin rhythms. Epithalon appears to restore a more youthful curve, which is partly why users report better sleep quality during cycles.

Typical Protocols

Research uses 5–10 mg daily for 10–20 days, then a long break (commonly 3–6 months). Subcutaneous injection or intranasal administration are both used. The cyclical structure mirrors the Russian protocols where most data came from.

Does epithalon actually extend lifespan in humans?
We don't know. Mouse data is encouraging, human RCTs are essentially absent. Treat it as a high-interest experimental peptide, not a proven longevity therapy.
